Target Audience Analysis

 Primary Target Audience:

My primary target audience would be 16-25 year-olds. These would also be those who are interested in the horror genre. Demographically, they are most likely to be in the lower-middle class in society as stereotypically the upper class don't spend their time watching TV; if they did it would be something like drama or romance genres. They are also more likely going to be a female audience as they tend to watch TV in their spare time whereas men tend to play games. 

Due to this, the channel will feature younger people and represent them in a way that they would like to be represented which links to reception theory and the idea of preferred reading. 

Secondary Target Audience:

The likely secondary target audience would be those who are living in the same household as the primary target audience. This is because whilst the primary target audience may choose to watch my horror channel, others in the household may also choose to watch as well. This is likely to be parents, siblings or other relatives that are likely to be middle aged. 

Therefore, including some intertextuality into the horror channel such as references to the horror genre that they may have watched when they were younger, such as E.T, may make them also want to watch the channel more.
