Newspapers in the UK are likely to be either left or right wing in their ideologies in the way they represent the stories. This means that each story we hear as consumers will be different per newspaper/ article. The first newspapers cover (daily mail) represents the right wing which means that people who prefer to read and agree with right wing beliefs are more likely to read the daily mail as it agrees with its audience (reception theory). The main coverline of the daily mail says, ‘hands off our election’ and this shows that we as English people own our country and should be proud about it. This can be seen as a patriotic move by the daily mail and push their agenda against any foreign outsiders to leave us alone. Binary opposition takes place as it creates a good and evil in this country between the people as this could be against other groups such as labour or any foreign outsider interference and this could spark conflict between the political groups.
