Supporting Evidence
Prototype 1:
The main image of this poster will be central. It will be of a man standing in the woods between some trees, carrying a hatchet in his hand. The image will be at dusk and will emit an orange glow (suggesting rage) that will cast a shadow of the man. This will suggest to the audience that it is part of the horror genre as it suggests danger which is a convention of this genre.
The title for the channel will be put at the top part of the poster and will be in a red font. It will be in a font that fits the horror theme so that the audience immediately know what the poster is for. Below the title will be a tagline that will get the audience invested in the channel and entice them to watch it. This will all be against a black background to fit with the horror theme and also make the title and tagline stand out for the audience to see.
At the bottom of the poster is where it will feature any extra information to help the audience to find the channel. This includes social media accounts and the sky channel that they can find the channel on, as well as a website and release date. The audience are then able to watch the channel when it comes out because they will know where and when to find it.
Prototype 2:
For this poster, the main image will be the same man with a hatchet in the woods, but instead the image will be in the daytime and it reveals that the man has a mask on his face to cover his identity, which suggests he commits crime. The hatchet will also have blood dripping from it as it will suggest that a murder has taken place during the night. The image will also take up the top part of the poster.
The title and tagline are at the top of the poster over the main image in a black font which will contrast the light in the image from the daylight. It is in the same font as the other posters to keep it consistent so that the audience can recognise the channel when they see it. It will also fit the conventions of the horror genre.
At the bottom of the poster will be similar to the previous one as it will include the same key information like the release date etc to let the audience know the information about the channel and where to find it.
Prototype 3:
For this poster, the main image will take up the top part of the poster. It will be a girl in a lake, floating on the top of the water with her hair spread out around her head. I would've then photoshopped the the water around her and changed it to look red like blood but leave the outside of it so that it is normal. As blood is a common convention of horror then the audience would know immediately, without looking a the title, that it is horror.
By leaving the outside of the water normal means that it will create a dark background for the title of the channel to be in a red font and still stand out. This will be in the same font as all of the other posters to make it recognisable.
The bottom of the poster will be the same as the previous. However, it will have the tagline positioned at the bottom as it is likely to be the last thing they read and will entice them to watch the channel. This will all be against a red background and all text will be in black.
Prototype 4:
The main image on this poster will be in the centre of the page and have text at the top and bottom. It will be a man with a shovel going to dig a hole in the woods. The will then be a body laying on the floor next to where the man is digging. It will be dawn so will have beams of light poking through the dense trees. This will suggest to the audience that the man is going to bury the body of someone he has murdered. This fits the conventions of horror as it involves death and the use of props such as a shovel which is commonly used in horror.
The title of the channel will be at the top of the poster as with all of the other posters to keep it consistent and the release date will be underneath it in a smaller font so that it doesn't distract the audience from the title. It will be in a black font against a red background and will be in the same font to fit the horror genre so that the audience are instantly aware of what the poster is for. The bright red in the poster will also draw the audience to this poster rather than the other advertisements in the entertainment magazine.
The bottom of the poster will feature the same social media accounts as before and a website and channel number so that the audience can find out more information and tell people they know about it to attract a wider audience, which links to social interaction in uses and gratifications theory. The tagline will also be featured here so that it will be one of the last things they remember to attract them to the channel.
